For most people, Canada began somehow with Samuel Champlain and his interaction with the Natives in Ontario and Quebec.
For others, Canada began with Confederation.
Both starting points contributed to the early beginnings of Canada. Our spiritual heritage, though, came out of the persecution of the French Protestants (Huguenots) between 1515 and 1715 (a period of 200 years). This is largely the UNTOLD history – God’s Providential History – of Canada, told to you by video stories.
It was lots of fun! I learned a lot about parliament, I got to spend encouraging times with friends, and the people that run it are really nice Christians.
You will have fun.
It’s truly a unique experience to learn about our government from a Christian perspective. It’s challenging and also inspiring.
It’s a nice home, Christian worldview, it is a time to learn about the past and the future.
Persecution began with Francis I and culminated under Louis XIV. The marble frieze mounted over the left doorway of the House of Commons clearly points to this fact. It shows Francis I on the left and Louis XIV on the right. The Senate foyer bears witness to this with portraits of all the kings of France, from Francis I to Louis XIV, hanging on its walls. The image of this frieze has been chosen to represent this course.

It’s a great way to learn history as Christians.
There is so much history that you might not otherwise learn and it’s presented in a Christian way.
I would tell friends to come on this tour because the leaders are very friendly and it is great to hear our history from a Christian perspective. A very fun trip all in all!
Christian perspective, very informative, good to sit with a group of students and challenge them, Christian roots helps to connect with people.
The French Connection is a ‘story-based’ video History course.
It links our history to the marble frieze mounted over the left doorway of the House of Commons. Covering 200 years of history, this frieze shows King Francis I of France on the left, and King Louis XIV on the right.
It uncovers the stories of the French Protestants (Huguenots) who invested their lives and resources to establish the first colonies in the Atlantic Provinces (Acadia), Quebec and Ontario (New France).
It exposes the reason why this marble frieze represents stories of the persecution of the Huguenots, which started under Francis I and continued under all but one king.
We got a lot more in than if we were to try and organize it ourselves. They know so much and show you so much more than we would’ve seen if we were on our own.
I would tell a friend to come here to learn lots of interesting stuff about our government.
Very educational, good learning experience, interesting tours.
They give you an interesting, good perspective on government and the history of Canada.
Hi. I’m Lynette.
I am a ‘transplanted Canadian’ and call myself ‘The Curious Canadian History Buff’. I have been researching Canadian History, beginning in France by investigating how God’s providence played into our history.
I teach families, individuals, schools and church groups, everything I have discovered in my research. I teach both live and with video stories. My research includes discovering 25 Scripture verses engraved in the Peace Tower, of which many Christians are unaware.

They can get different tours then the normal person can get into. eg. Bell tower, Supreme Court.
It is a very helpful programme, especially if you are new to Ottawa or don’t know much about history, and they give you a place to really call home.
The leaders are friendly and personal and are great at making the experience interesting and educational.
Seeing this in a Biblical perspective is very important in shaping our worldview.
